The holiday season is fast approaching, and as you look around you count your blessings.  You have a full life.  A wonderful husband, beautiful and most importantly, healthy children, a loving home and friends and family you love and who love you.

Maybe because you have so many blessings to count, you can appreciate that there are so many others who aren't nearly as blessed at you.  As your babies turn to toddlers and toddlers to preschool and school aged children, you want to teach them to appreciate all you have and teach them to be generous to others.

You can have them shop for a toy or an outfit and then donate it to the less fortunate, teaching them that the act of giving is just as rewarding as the act of receiving.  Sadly, there are many children in need.  Sickly children in hospitals, foster children in unfamiliar homes and homeless children in shelters, children who are being raised by a single parents, children who live in poverty; there are thousands of children in need every day, and making your own children aware of it is so important.

The holidays are the perfect time to give your child the opportunity to get into the spirit of giving.  After they experience the joy of giving, you can rest assured that the giving spirit will reside in their hearts eternally.
